Jefferson Intended Constitution To Protect People

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

We sometimes think of the government as an enemy, but we must also remember that each individual in government is a person with a job to do just like us. The Constitution is in place to protect us. It’s also in place to remind us where we all stand. And that our voices are to be heard; each of us counts.
